On a walk to the Jardin du Luxembourg, I passed through a charming square which seemed oddly familiar. After a quick discussion with my friend, whom I’d just watched Emily in Paris with, we decided that the bakery in the square must be from the show. I search up the location and pulled up an article from Condé Nast which not only confirmed our suspicion, but showed that we were standing in the center of a crucial Emily in Paris filming location.
Whether Emily’s standing on the Pont Alexandre III or hiking up to the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre with Gabrielle, the entire city of Paris is the set for the show. However, Place de l’Estrapade in the 5th arrondissement is a hot spot where you can find the core filming locations all within a few steps from one another.
La Boulangerie Moderne

If watching Emily rip into a pain au chocolat via Instagram boomerang filled you with envy and hunger, no fear; you can recreate that exact experience for yourself because La Boulangerie Moderne is a real boulangerie. I was skeptical that the pastries would taste like a tourist trap special, but I was pleasantly surprised. We showed up at the end of the day and were treated with a top-notch croissant at a reasonable price. I would absolutely recommend the croissants from Boulangerie Moderne to anyone, even if you’re not an Emily in Paris fan. Despite Emily’s many failed attempts, maybe you could be the one to bring back the lost art form of the Instagram boomerang after visiting this boulangerie.

Gabriele’s Restaurant

While in the real world it’s not called Les Deux Compères or L’Esprit de Gigi, the Italian bistro, Terra Nera, is the familiar red awning you might recognize as Gabrielle’s restaurant. I didn’t eat at Terra Nera so I can’t speak to the restaurant itself. What I can offer you is the knowledge that Lucas Bravo was at this place pretending to be a chef on more than one occasion.

Emily & Gabriel’s Apartment Building

This brown door is where Emily and Gabrielle shared so many uncomfortable encounters. This is still an operating apartment building, so please keep that in mind and be respectful to the tenants. Marvel at the brown door, maybe take a quick picture, then be on your way to another more exciting destination.
Jardin du Luxembourg

After embodying the persona of a stereotypical obnoxious American tourist in an Emily in Paris frenzy, I finally made it to my intended destination where I learned that it too was featured in the show. While not in Place de l’Estrapade, Jardin du Luxembourg is only a five-minute walk from the square. This garden is Emily’s favorite running spot, and it surely would be mine as well if I lived in her apartment.
