Best Cafés in Paris

As I’ve found to be true in many major cities, quality specialty coffee shops can be hard to come by in Paris. This isn’t because there aren’t plenty filling the streets, but rather that the overwhelming amount of tourist traps make the best places harder to find; especially if you’re only in Paris for a few days. After manically running around Paris hunting for specialty coffee, the area surrounding Montmartre became my favorite for finding a bounty of cozy cafés. Without further ado, let’s dive into a few of my favorite cafés around Paris!

Télescope Café

This tiny café, tucked away in the 1st arrondissement, is my favorite coffee shop I visited in Paris. The sandwich jambon/beurre is the epitome of what I love most about French cuisine; you can’t beat the simple combination of a crunchy baguette, a thick layer of butter, salty ham, and tangy pickles to cut through the layers of fat. The coffee is made with beans sourced from incredible roasters and brewed to perfection. In addition to the magnificent coffee and food, the staff was delightful. My nose started ferociously bleeding while I was in the café, and even though they didn’t have a bathroom, the employees consistently checked in on me and brought me a constant supply of napkins and water. Télescope is a must visit specialty coffee shop in Paris.

KB Coffee Roasters

KB is a specialty coffee roaster located in the 9th arrondissement. Their large outdoor seating area is the perfect place to enjoy a coffee before hiking up Montmartre.

Simple Coffee

If you’re in need of some more fuel to make it to Montmartre, Simple Coffee is just a few minutes from KB Coffee Roasters. The quiche and simply dressed salad made for a great lunch and they of course make a killer cappuccino for all your caffeine needs.

Torré

This coffee shop was right by our hotel so after passing by it several times and admiring its aesthetic, we decided to give it a try. The coffee was delightful, and the financier made for a great afternoon treat.
